Toyota has plans to enroll a lot of new things for its drivers in 2011. One of the many models Toyota is revamping is the Tacoma. Expected to appear at dealership showrooms, including Peterson Toyota, serving the greater Boise area, beginning this fall the redesigned Toyota will offer a new interior, exterior, and improved entertainment system.

Toyota's alterations are mostly on the surface and won't have an effect on the Tacoma's powertrain or the engine's chassis. No reason to change the Tacoma, it's the top-selling compact pickup in the United States.

Bob Carter, Group VP and Brand Manager, Toyota explains the Tacoma's significance in Toyota's overall vehicle line-up, "It's an important segment for us because it provides us with young customers."1  Two of Toyota's direct competitors in the U.S. are no longer developing the compact pickup segment, but Carter argues that it may make a strong resurgence if gas and oil prices continue to increase. Toyota states that during the first 6 months of 2011 they sold more Tacoma pickups than they did the bigger, full-sized Tundra pickups.

What do you think? Will consumer preference shift toward smaller compact pickups? Peterson Toyota, located at 9101 Fairview Ave Boise, ID 83704, would like to know your opinion.
